Great item (2009-02-24)
I bought these for my wife for Valentine's Day to match the neclace I had gotten her at Christmas. She absolutely loves the earings, and haas gotten many compliments on them every time she wears them. The shipping came faster than I expected as well. I highly recommend this item.
Color lots must differ significantly (2009-02-20)
I received the matching heart pendant for these earrings last year. The necklace heart was clearly a red garnet color. Yesterday I received these earrings bought to wear with the pendant, but the earrings are a definite brown - more smokey topaz than garnet. They are not heavy so would be comfortable to wear. The back is flat, but the silver filligree is there so each earring piece looks "finished"- if that was putting you off buying these, don't let that deter you. I do love how the silver-work shows through the "stone" if back-lighted. I'm disappointed about the color but have some brown outfits I can wear with them, even if I can't wear them with the "matching" necklace.
Damaged on arrival (2009-02-05)
I read all the reviews for both the earrings and the pendant necklace and decided to purchase them anyway, even though some had said these items were not worth the money. I should have listened. When the earrings arrived one of the stones had completely came loose from the sterling silver. It was only being held on by one tiny portion of glue at the base of the stone in the first place. I was affraid the other earring would fall apart too, and I was concerned about the quality of the necklace as well, so I returned them both. The return process was easy, and unfortunately was the most pleaseant part of my shopping experience. I advise strong caution when ordering this item!

This is the matching Item for the Heart Pendant Necklace of the same design. Great quality, looks superb, does not dangle too low, and is not heavy like most earrings of this nature. If you want the antique look without the antique price, this is your item. Great price too!

These earrings are simply georgeous!
They are a good size and the marcasite shows off the red teardrops beautifully!
